YMCA Moldova is launching the “Digital Empowerment Programme 2026”, implemented under the YMCA–HP Grassroots Digital Equity Programme – Mini-Grants 2026. This initiative represents a strategic continuation and expansion of our efforts to reduce the digital divide in Moldova and to strengthen digital skills development for diverse target groups, including youth, students, adults, and seniors. The programme is structured around three complementary components that together promote digital education, employability, and inclusive access to technology.

The first component, From Skills to Jobs: Digital Competence and Leadership for the Future of Work, focuses on preparing young people for the rapidly evolving labour market. Weekly sessions will be organised at the YMCA Community Resource and Development Center in Chișinău, bringing together leaders from various industries and companies to share insights about digital skills, AI trends, employability requirements, and leadership development. Participants will benefit from practical workshops, career orientation sessions, and access to trusted learning platforms such as HP LIFE. The objective is to build a strong cluster of resilient, adaptable young individuals equipped with the digital competencies and leadership mindset needed to succeed in the future of work.

The second component, Digital Inclusion for Adults & Seniors in Moldova, addresses digital exclusion among adults and older generations, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Through dedicated inclusion hubs and a Mobile Digital Inclusion Center, structured sessions will be delivered in districts in partnership with senior centers, associations of persons with disabilities, and other community institutions. Participants will learn how to use laptops and smartphones, create and manage email accounts, access e-government services, use online banking applications, and navigate the internet safely. This component also includes a national media awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of digital literacy for seniors and encouraging intergenerational support, helping to expand community engagement and reach.

The third component, Digital Upskilling in Schools Initiative 2.0, focuses on strengthening digital readiness within the education system. Approximately 96 sessions will be delivered in schools, engaging students and educators in interactive workshops on digital literacy, online safety, AI basics, STEAM learning, and career awareness. Teachers will receive guidance and practical tools to integrate digital technologies into classroom practice. Particular attention will be given to rural and underserved schools, ensuring equitable access to structured digital learning opportunities and reinforcing partnerships between YMCA Moldova and educational institutions.

Through the Digital Empowerment Programme 2026, YMCA Moldova aims to create an integrated ecosystem for digital skills development that responds to real societal needs. The programme supports youth employability, enhances digital autonomy among adults and seniors, and contributes to the modernisation of educational environments. In a world increasingly shaped by technology, investing in digital competencies is essential for inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development.

The project is implemented by YMCA Moldova in partnership with YMCA Europe and HP Inc., reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing digital equity and ensuring that individuals of all ages have access to meaningful learning opportunities and the skills required to thrive in a digital society.

The project “Digital Empowerment Programme 2026” is funded by HP and implemented by YMCA to support the development of digital competencies through training programmes, workshops, and other educational initiatives. https://www.ymcaeurope.com/online-courses/ https://www.ymcaeurope.com/online-courses/
