The YMCA Moldova team visited the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Theoretical High School in the city of Orhei, where they organized an interactive session focused on personal development, career guidance, and entrepreneurial education for young people, offering them the opportunity to explore new career perspectives and acquire practical knowledge essential for their professional future.

The activity was carried out as part of the project “Career Guidance and Employment for Rural Youth in the Republic of Moldova,” implemented by YMCA Moldova in partnership with Kerk in Actie (the Netherlands). The project aims to support young people in identifying their own skills and interests, developing the competencies necessary for integration into the labor market, and encouraging them to make informed decisions regarding their educational and professional futures.

During the session, students engaged in self-discovery exercises, practical activities, and interactive discussions focused on choosing a profession that aligns with their individual skills, passions, and aspirations. Furthermore, the session covered topics such as developing digital and professional competencies, identifying training and employment opportunities available in the Republic of Moldova, drafting a CV, and preparing for a job interview.

A key moment of the activity was the students’ meeting with an entrepreneur, who shared his professional experience and outlined the main stages involved in launching and developing a business. During the discussion, the young people had the opportunity to learn what it takes to turn an idea into an entrepreneurial project, the challenges encountered in managing a business, and the importance of perseverance, responsibility, creativity, and adaptability in achieving professional goals.

The dialogue with the entrepreneur provided students with a practical perspective on the business environment and the opportunities that entrepreneurship can offer the younger generation. Through concrete examples and experiences, participants were encouraged to harness their own initiative, think creatively, and explore the possibility of developing their own business ideas in the future.

Furthermore, the activity emphasized the importance of developing communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence in one’s own abilities. These competencies are essential both for integration into the labor market and for the development of entrepreneurial initiatives, as well as for adapting to the demands of a constantly changing society.

By organizing such sessions, YMCA Moldova continues to contribute to the preparation of young people for future educational and professional choices, facilitating their access to relevant information, practical experiences and direct interactions with representatives of the entrepreneurial environment. Combining professional guidance with entrepreneurial education represents a valuable opportunity for young people to better understand development possibilities and take the first steps towards building a professional path adapted to personal interests and aspirations.

We thank the leadership of the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Theoretical High School in Orhei for their openness and cooperation, the guest entrepreneur for their willingness to share their experience, and the students for the interest they showed, the questions they asked, and their active participation during the session.
