YMCA Moldova had the honor of hosting the YMCA Europe Secretaries General Forum in Chișinău between 24–27 November 2024, a major event that brought together more than 20 leaders of YMCA national movements from across Europe. The forum’s primary objective is to strengthen the vision and strategic direction of YMCA on the European continent, in line with the global initiatives of World YMCA and the Vision2030 strategy.

The official opening featured welcoming remarks from Dumitru Roibu, Executive President of YMCA Moldova, and Ion Ceban, Mayor General of Chișinău Municipality. The event was further distinguished by the presence of high-level YMCA leaders: Juan Simones Iglesias, Secretary General of YMCA Europe, and Carlos Sanvee, Secretary General of World YMCA, highlighting the importance and prestige of the forum.

Throughout the four-day gathering, participants engaged in a comprehensive agenda focused on sharing experiences, examining best practices, and aligning national organizational strategies with the global goals set by Vision2030. Discussions addressed essential topics such as social inclusion, digital transformation, youth empowerment, innovation in educational programs, and sustainable development within YMCA organizations across Europe.

The forum also offered participants the opportunity to explore the cultural and tourist potential of Chișinău. YMCA Moldova prepared a diverse program that included thematic visits, cultural presentations, and activities designed to promote the Republic of Moldova as a safe, modern, and collaborative international partner.

As the hosting organization, YMCA Moldova presented its achievements, major ongoing projects, and the impact of its initiatives on local communities. This event served as an important platform for strengthening international relationships, promoting the country’s image, and highlighting the role of YMCA Moldova within the wider European YMCA network.

The YMCA Europe Secretaries General Forum held in Chișinău represents a significant milestone for the YMCA movement in Moldova and reaffirms the organization’s commitment to contributing actively to youth development and international cooperation within the YMCA global family.
