My name is Elijah Peichev, and I am 23 years old. My journey with YMCA began in Ukraine, where I volunteered with YMCA Odesa, taking part in cultural activities, community events, and the local scouting program.

In Odesa, I also worked as a musician and a drum teacher, combining creativity with community involvement. Because of the war, I relocated to Chișinău in October 2025.

Thanks to the strong connection between different national YMCA organizations, this move led to my first meeting with YMCA Moldova. The organization provided essential support during a very difficult time—help with housing, basic needs, and most importantly, a welcoming community. This support allowed me to rebuild stability and continue meaningful work.

Now, I am working as an IT in a school for Ukrainian kids in Moldova. With YMCA Moldova, I have already participated in the PACE project – Promotion, Access, Collaboration and Empowerment for Ukrainian Youth, where I also served as a moderator for the project’s opening event.

Moving forward, I hope to continue collaborating with YMCA Moldova, joining events and initiatives—especially those aimed at supporting Ukrainian youth. There is also a strong desire to contribute to more creative projects within YMCA, including those connected with music, culture, and youth development. YMCA Moldova has played an essential role in my path here, and I look forward to growing together and supporting the community that once supported me.
