Mr. Viorel, principal of the “Viorel Găină” Gymnasium No. 74 in Tohatin Commune, discusses the impact of the “HP-YMCA Initiative for Rural Education” project and the importance of the support provided to students and their families at the start of the new school year.

For many families, preparing children for school entails significant expenses, and this type of assistance addresses a real need. The schoolbags and bags provided through the project represent more than just material support—they bring joy to the children, boost their confidence, and motivate them to start the new school year better prepared and with greater enthusiasm.

Through the “HP-YMCA Initiative for Rural Education” project, YMCA Moldova aims to contribute to creating more equitable educational opportunities and to support students from various communities across the Republic of Moldova, paying special attention to those in rural areas and families in need of support.

In total, over 18,000 school backpacks and bags are being distributed nationwide, reaching students in educational institutions across the country. Each backpack provided represents tangible support for a family and, at the same time, an investment in a child’s education and future.

Such initiatives demonstrate the importance of engagement and collaboration in creating better learning conditions and giving children the chance to start the school year with greater confidence, motivation, and optimism.

Through the “HP-YMCA Initiative for Rural Education,” YMCA Moldova continues to stand by students and educational communities, contributing to a future where every child has access to the support and opportunities needed to develop and realize their potential.
