Olga, a participant in the “EU FUNDING LAB” activity—organized by YMCA Moldova at the Ungheni District Youth Center—shares her experience from the session and discusses the importance of training, professional development, and skills-building opportunities for young leaders and representatives of civil society organizations.

During the interview, Olga highlights the knowledge and insights gained throughout her work—specifically regarding the identification of European funding opportunities, the drafting and structuring of project proposals, the formulation of objectives, and the development of initiatives that address the actual needs of local communities. Furthermore, she emphasizes the value of such sessions for individuals interested in transforming ideas into concrete projects capable of generating positive results and change within the community.

The “EU FUNDING LAB” activity offered participants the opportunity to explore practical tools and methods for project planning, to gain a better understanding of the requirements and mechanisms for accessing European funding, and to identify new development prospects for the organizations and initiatives they represent. Through interactive discussions and the exchange of experience, participants were able to strengthen their knowledge regarding project management, institutional collaboration, and the leveraging of available funding opportunities.

By organizing such non-formal education activities, YMCA Moldova continues to contribute to strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations, promoting active youth participation, the development of leadership skills, and the involvement of young people in identifying solutions to the challenges faced by local communities. At the same time, the initiative aims to foster cooperation among organizations, the exchange of best practices, and the development of sustainable projects tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries.

The experience shared by Olga highlights the importance of access to relevant information and training opportunities for individuals involved in the non-profit sector, demonstrating the role that non-formal education can play in developing community initiatives and strengthening an active, well-prepared civil society.

The activity was carried out as part of the project “Stronger Ys – Strengthening YMCA/YWCA Movements in Europe, Palestine and Africa,” with financial support from YWCA-YMCA of Sweden and Sida – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
